500 arrested in Chennai during protest for safety of Hindus in Bangladesh

Various Hindu organisations participated in a protest organised by the Bangladesh Hindus Rights Retrieval Committee in Chennai condemning the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh.

The demonstration was held to demand justice for the victims of violence and the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das who was detained at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on November 27 under charges of treason.

“Can anything be more tragic than this when justice is denied to the victim… We want justice for the Bangladeshi Hindu and lawyers to appear for the Swami ji in Bangladesh Court,” said BJP leader Uma Anandan.

Chinmoy Krishna Das, a prominent Hindu monk, was arrested on charges of treason in Bangladesh.

In a related development, ISKCON Kolkata reported that a Bangladeshi lawyer defending Das was attacked by Islamic extremists, suffering serious injuries that left him in the ICU.

This attack led to the refusal of lawyers to appear during Das’ bail hearing, forcing the Chittagong court to adjourn the case.
