4,000 Temple Kumbabishekam Completed in 1,728 Days: CM M K Stalin
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday said that 4,000 temple kumbabishekam (consecration) ceremonies have been conducted across the state during the 1,728 days since the DMK government assumed office.
Sharing the information, the Chief Minister said this achievement reflects the government’s continued focus on preserving temples and religious heritage under the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department.
He noted that such a large number of consecration ceremonies completed within a single government’s tenure is unprecedented in the state.
Highlighting key milestones, Stalin said the 1,000th kumbabishekam was held at the Kasi Viswanathar Temple in West Mambalam in 2023, the 2,000th at the Veeratteswarar Temple in Mayiladuthurai district in 2024, the 3,000th at the Agneeswarar Temple in Nagapattinam district in 2025, and the 4,000th at the Semathamman Temple in Perambur.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the Dravidian model of governance follows an inclusive approach and respects all faiths, while firmly opposing religious extremism.
He added that temple renovation, maintenance, and consecration works would continue in the coming days to protect Tamil Nadu’s rich spiritual and cultural legacy.
