21-year-old farmer killed on Punjab-Haryana boundary
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has said that his government will support the family of a 21-year-old farmer from Bathinda who died at the Haryana border during the farmers’ protest on Wednesday.
According to farmers, Shubhkaran Singh, 21, was killed at Khanauri on the Sangrur-Jind border during clashes with Haryana Police. Some farmers alleged that he was killed in the tear gas shelling by the police.
However, the police are yet to confirm the death of any protester at the border.
Addressing the media, the Punjab Chief Minister said a probe would be carried out into Shubhkaran’s death and the officer responsible for it would face the strictest legal action.
“Shubhkaran did not go there to click photos. He was here to seek the right price for his crops,” Mann said.
The Chief Minister said that his government would give financial aid to Shubhkaran’s family.
A twenty-one-year-old farmer was allegedly killed during a clash with police on Wednesday. The man, identified as Subhkaran Singh, 21, from Bathinda, died at Khanauri on the Sangrur-Jind border, news agency PTI quoted farmer leader Baldev Singh Sirsa as saying.
Earlier, news agency PTI reported farmer leader Baldev Singh Sirsa that claimed the death of a protester at the Haryana border.
