19 World Cup final: India clinch 6th title with 100-run victory

India clinched the U19 Cricket World Cup title for a record-extending sixth time, beating England by 100 runs in the U19 World Cup 2026 final in Harare on Friday.

It is a historic win for Ayush Mhatre-led India, as they set the world record for the largest margin of victory in terms of runs in an U19 World Cup final.

14-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi laid the foundation for India’s victory, smashing a breathtaking 80-ball 175 to take them to a total of 411/9 in 50 overs.

In response, England kept things alive thanks to a remarkable 67-ball 115 by Caleb Falconer, but ultimately fell well short. India won every single game en route to the trophy.

Since 2016, India have reached the final every single time, winning thrice and losing thrice. But those three final defeats have been India’s only three losses in the U19 World Cup since 2016. Their record reads an astonishing 35 wins and 3 losses in this period.

Captain Ayush Mhatre chipped in with both bat and ball. Aaron George slammed a hundred in the semi. Vihaan Malhotra was the star against Bangladesh. Kanishk Chouhan smashed many key cameos, and was the star against Pakistan. RS Ambrish and Henil Patel took 11 wickets each, and Khilan Patel contributed in all three departments.

Twin delight for Vaibhav Suryavanshi. as the 14-year-old deservedly bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ award, and also the ‘Player of the Series’ award.
