130 students hospitalised due to suspected food poisoning in Mangaluru

As many as 130 students at nursing and paramedical college were hospitalised due to suspected food poisoning in Mangaluru’s Shaktinagar on Monday.

Some students reportedly consumed food in the mess of their respective hostel, after which they started complaining of stomach ache, loose motions and vomiting.

As many as 130 students have been admitted to different hospitals in the city due to suspected food poisoning.

52 students have been admitted to AJ Hospital, 18 to KMC Jyothi, 14 admitted at Unity Hospital, 8 at City Hospital, 3 at Mangala Hospital and 2 at FR Mullers Hospital.

Mangalore City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said that students have been admitted to at least five hospitals in the city. The students had started complaining of stomach ache since 2 am on Monday. The college authorities did not share any details with students’ families, that triggered panic among the parents.
