What would a Vijay biopic look like? Director Ashwath Marimuthu reveals his title and interval idea
Director Ashwath Marimuthu has offered a fictional glimpse into how he would approach a biopic on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay.
The filmmaker, known for Oh My Kadavule and the successful Dragon, is currently working on Dharman, which stars Rajinikanth and is being produced by Kamal Haasan.
Marimuthu is also preparing for his acting debut in an upcoming film produced by Pradeep Ranganathan. The project is being directed by a team of six filmmakers and features Mamitha Baiju and Swasika.
During a recent Galatta event, Marimuthu was asked a hypothetical question about making a biographical film on Vijay.
He said he would call the film Nenjil Kudirukum. According to his proposed structure, the first half would concentrate on Vijay’s career in cinema, with his decision to enter politics serving as the interval point. The second half would then follow his political career.
There is currently no confirmed Vijay biopic involving Marimuthu. The director’s comments were made purely in response to the hypothetical question.
Vijay has stepped away from acting after completing his 69th film, Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, following his entry into active politics.
Meanwhile, production on Marimuthu’s Dharman is moving ahead. The film brings Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan together professionally after several decades and also features Simran and Raashi Khanna.
Rajinikanth’s role has been teased as the “Deadly Doctor” in promotional material. Ram Pothineni has reportedly been linked to the project, although the filmmakers have not officially confirmed his participation. Details regarding the remaining cast, story, genre and release date are still awaited.
