Vijay’s Jana Nayagan likely to receive censor certificate today

The road to release for Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay, has taken another unexpected turn.

According to reports from Valaipechu, the film is set to receive its censor certificate on today, with the makers initially eyeing an April 30 theatrical release.

However, just days before this crucial milestone, a piracy leak has dealt a significant blow to the film’s business prospects.

The confidence around the film has taken a hit at the worst possible time. The leak has triggered immediate consequences in the distribution market, particularly in Tamil Nadu.

Distributors who had earlier acquired the theatrical rights for a massive Rs 103 crore on a minimum guarantee (MG) basis have now backed out of the deal.

In its place, a revised agreement has reportedly been structured on a 50% revenue-sharing basis. This shift dramatically alters the financial equation, placing the entire risk burden on the producers.

Instead of secured returns through MG deals, the film’s success will now depend purely on box office performance.
