Union Home Minister Amit Shah to visit Tamil Nadu on 9 January
Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Tamil Nadu on January 9, party sources have confirmed, in the backdrop of intense political preparations ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
Shah’s visit comes as the BJP and its allies are working to strengthen their National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the State, amid ongoing talks on seat sharing and coalition arrangements.
The visit is expected to coincide with the culmination of the BJP’s statewide “Tamilagam Thalai Nimir Tamilan” campaign tour led by State president Nainar Nagendran, which started in various districts and is slated to conclude around the same date.
Preparations are underway at the venue for a large public meeting, with ground and stage arrangements being readied.
Party officials said key leaders, including AIADMK chief Edappadi K. Palaniswami and other alliance representatives, are likely to participate, though final confirmations of all attending parties will be known closer to the event.
