Silambarasan–Vetrimaaran’s Arasan aims for Deepavali release as work gains momentum
The upcoming Tamil film Arasan, directed by Vetrimaaran and starring Silambarasan TR (STR) in the lead role, is progressing steadily and is currently being planned for a Deepavali release. The project has generated significant attention due to the combination of Simbu and Vetrimaaran, marking one of the most anticipated collaborations in Tamil cinema.
Recent updates suggest that the film’s shooting schedule is moving ahead as planned. Actress Priyanka Mohan has reportedly joined the production and has begun filming her portions. Her inclusion adds to the growing excitement surrounding the gangster drama, which is expected to feature an ensemble cast.
As part of the film’s large-scale production design, the makers are said to be constructing an elaborate set resembling parts of North Chennai’s Vada Chennai landscape along the East Coast Road (ECR). The set is expected to play a crucial role in recreating the film’s backdrop and atmosphere. Reports indicate that considerable effort is being invested in building an authentic environment that aligns with the story’s setting.
While the makers have not officially disclosed detailed plot information, Arasan is believed to be a gangster-based drama rooted in local culture and socio-political themes, a storytelling style often associated with Vetrimaaran’s films. Industry circles suggest that the director is focusing on delivering a large-scale commercial entertainer while retaining his signature realistic narrative approach.
