“Kitti” Movie Review
A suspenseful thriller that slowly unravels its secrets
Vijay (Ashok) walks into a police station and confesses to the murder of his girlfriend Pooja (Nisha), along with a goon allegedly sent by her father to kill him. With the case seemingly solved, everything appears straightforward. However, as the investigation progresses, the cops realise that there is far more to the story than what initially meets the eye.
Who exactly is Vijay? What is the truth behind the murders? The film builds its mystery effectively, backed by a neatly structured screenplay that keeps the audience engaged. From the opening itself, the narrative grabs attention and gradually unfolds its layers, introducing new details and keeping the curiosity alive about what is really happening.
The performances are one of the film’s major strengths. The casting works well, with every actor making a contribution to the unfolding mystery. Ashok, as Vijay, is particularly effective in a layered and demanding role. His restrained performance brings out the different shades of his character, while his screen presence helps maintain the suspense throughout. He remains the film’s biggest strength and holds the narrative together until the end.
The three female leads deliver neat performances and add value to the proceedings. Yugan, as the investigating cop, brings the required seriousness and professionalism to the role. His body language, expressions and dialogue delivery give the character an assured presence. YG Mahendra also makes a notable contribution with his presence.
The songs are well picturised, while the thoughtfully chosen locations add to the film’s visual appeal and overall atmosphere. The technical presentation complements the film’s mysterious tone.
That said, the screenplay does become slightly confusing at certain points, and a few questions are left unanswered as the story moves towards its conclusion. The climax, in particular, could have provided more clarity and closure.
Despite these shortcomings, the film succeeds in keeping the audience invested in its mystery. Its intriguing premise, effective performances, atmospheric presentation and sustained suspense make it an engaging thriller that holds attention until the end.
