“It’s difficult”: Yami Gautam reacts to Nayyi Naveli’s release alongside Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2
Actor Yami Gautam Dhar has opened up about the release timing of her film Nayyi Naveli, which arrived in theatres on October 16, just one day after Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2.
Responding to a social media user’s comment that the film was good but its release timing alongside Jailer 2 was not ideal, Yami acknowledged the challenges of securing a favourable release window in today’s competitive film industry.
She noted that obtaining a solo release or even a window shared by just two films had become increasingly difficult. Yami also expressed appreciation for everyone who worked on the film and gratitude to audiences for giving it a chance.
Despite the scheduling challenge, the actor said she was delighted that her film had arrived in theatres around the same time as a Rajinikanth-starrer. She described herself as a huge fan of the veteran actor and said it was an honour for her relatively small film to share a release period with his movie. She added that she was looking forward to watching Jailer 2 herself.
Nayyi Naveli marks the Hindi directorial debut of Balaji Mohan. Yami plays Mohini, a woman suspected of being a Daayan, or witch, by her new in-laws.
The film also features Addinath M Kothare, Anurag Thakur, Sunita Rajwar, Mita Vasisth, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Susmita Mukherjee and Prateek Pachori.
Meanwhile, Jailer 2 continues the story of Muthuvel Pandian, played by Rajinikanth, as he takes on a larger idol-smuggling syndicate linked to the criminal gang he confronted in the 2023 film Jailer.
