Chennai, Tamil Nadu — The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Chennai will celebrate the 14th Anniversary of its Temple Opening on Sunday, 26th April 2026, with the sacred Pushpa Abhishek ceremony — a traditional flower bathing ritual performed on the presiding deities of Sri Sri Radha Krishna and Sri Sri Nitai Gauranga.
The celebration will take place at the ISKCON Chennai Temple, Hare Krishna Land, Akkarai, ECR, Chennai, and is open to the general public with free entry and free prasadam (sanctified food) for all attendees.
Schedule of the Evening
• 6:00 PM — Tulasi Arati
• 6:30 PM — Gaura Arati
• 7:00 PM — Pushpa Abhishek (flower bathing ceremony)
• 7:45 PM — Mahaprasadam distribution
During the Pushpa Abhishek, thousands of fresh flowers will be showered upon the deities to the accompaniment of melodious kirtan and the chanting of the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra. The ceremony is considered one of the most visually beautiful and spiritually uplifting festivals in the Vaishnava calendar, symbolising the devotees’ loving offering to the Supreme Lord.
14 Years of Service to Chennai
Over the past 14 years, ISKCON Chennai has grown into one of South India’s most visited spiritual centres — hosting daily arati, Bhagavad Gita classes, youth programs, Sunday feasts, and large-scale festivals such as Janmashtami, Jagannath Rath Yatra, and Govardhan Puja.
Statement from the Temple Management
“The 14th Anniversary is a moment of deep gratitude — to Srila Prabhupada, to Sri Sri Radha Krishna, and to every devotee and well-wisher whose love has built this temple over the years. The Pushpa Abhishek is our humble offering of flowers and hearts at the lotus feet of the Lord. We warmly invite the people of Chennai, of all faiths and backgrounds, to join us for an evening of divine beauty, kirtan, and prasadam. Entry is free, and all are welcome.”
