Dhanush reacts to questions about political entry
Actor Dhanush has brushed aside speculation that he could eventually enter politics, choosing humour rather than a detailed response when the subject was raised by reporters.
The question came after he attended the National Film Awards ceremony in Gujarat, where he was recognised for his work on Raayan.
Speculation about Dhanush’s political ambitions has periodically surfaced because of activities associated with his fan clubs, welfare initiatives and public appearances.
When asked about the possibility of following the political path taken by actor-turned-politician Vijay, Dhanush reportedly laughed off the suggestion.
The actor recently spoke publicly about the recognition received by Raayan, acknowledging that he believed several other films released in 2024 were stronger contenders while also describing the award as meaningful recognition for his body of work.
Dhanush received a National Award for Best Tamil Film for Raayan, which he directed and starred in. Captain Miller, in which he played the lead, also received a Special Mention.
His recent appearance was in Kara, directed by Vignesh Raja, known for Por Thozhil.
Dhanush has several projects in the pipeline, including Om, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and featuring Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela and Naseeruddin Shah.
He is also attached to projects centred on filmmaker Ilaiyaraaja, former President APJ Abdul Kalam and a collaboration with director Vetri Maaran and actor Vijay Sethupathi titled Thamizh Murugan. Another upcoming project will reunite him with Lubber Pandhu director Tamizharasan Pachamuthu.
