Ahead of Karuppu’s theatrical release on May 14, the makers announced that the film’s first-day-first-show will begin as early as 9 am. Soon after, the team thanked Thalapathy Vijay for granting permission for the early morning screenings.
They wrote, “Special thanks to our honorable Chief Minister Thiru. Joseph Vijay for granting the special permission for the 9AM shows of #Karuppu. #Karuppu – FDFS begins at 9 AM, from May 14th (sic).”
One of the most awaited films of the year, Karuppu stars Suriya in the lead role and is expected to present the actor in a vintage mass-action avatar. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film also features Trisha Krishnan and is produced by S R Prabhu and S R Prakash Babu under the banner of Dream Warrior Pictures.
Earlier, director RJ Balaji described Suriya’s film as a theatrical entertainer meant for cinema-going audiences rather than for “people on social media”.
Speaking at a promotional event held in Hyderabad ahead of the film’s May 14 release, Balaji said the film was designed as a “mass masala” outing built around the version of Suriya that audiences have enjoyed in commercial hits.
