Campaign ends for MP, C’garh Assembly polls

Campaigning for Assembly Elections in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh has concluded. Polling for all 230 assembly constituencies of Madhya Pradesh and 70 constituencies under second phase in Chhattisgarh will be held on 17th of November.

Now the candidates can convey their message to the voters only through door-to-door contact.

During this silence period, there will be a complete ban on public meetings, street meetings, processions and publicity through loudspeakers. The vehicle permissions previously issued by the Election Commission to the candidates and political parties were also canceled with immediate effect.

Akashvani correspondent reports that, in Madhya Pradesh, voting will be held till 3 pm only in some Naxal-affected assembly constituencies on Friday.

In Chhattisgarh, a total of nine hundred and fifty-eight candidates are in the fray in seventy assembly constituencies while one crore 63 lakh 14 thousand 4 hundred 89 voters will exercise their franchise.

Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Amit Shah and Anurag Singh Thakur, BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda addressed election rallies at various places in the state today. While senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi held meetings in support of Congress candidates in Balodabazar and Bemetara.
