Bhavatharini, Ilayaraja’s daughter, dies in Sri Lanka
Legendary music composer Ilayaraja’s daughter Bhavatharini passed away on January 25 after battling a chronic illness. She was 47 and was undergoing treatment in Sri Lanka.
As per a report by Hindustan Times, Bhavatharini traveled from India to Sri Lanka for treatment. Despite undergoing Ayurvedic therapy for five months, her health did not improve, and sadly, she passed away at 5:20 PM on Thursday.
At the age of 47, she was a prominent figure in the film industry, contributing her voice to numerous popular songs in over 30 films. Her untimely death has sent shockwaves through the entire entertainment world.
As a versatile artist, she excelled as an actress, playback singer, and music composer. Being the daughter of Ilaiyaraaja, she collaborated with her father and brothers on various film music projects.
Despite her significant role in her family’s musical endeavors, her voice remained uniquely distinctive.
She received the National Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her performance in a song from Bharathi’s film, where she sang alongside Ilaiyaraaja.
