Amit Shah falls ill during Karnataka visit, cancels scheduled events
Union Home Minister Amit Shah cancelled his scheduled programmes in Karnataka on Saturday after falling ill during his visit to the state.
According to sources, Shah experienced vomiting, dehydration and symptoms linked to hyperacidity. Doctors treated him for several hours at the hotel where he was staying and administered intravenous fluids to help restore his electrolyte balance.
Doctors reportedly advised him to rest after observing fluctuations in his blood pressure.
Shah had been scheduled to dedicate the KLE Jagadguru Gangadhar Mahaswamigalu Moorusavirmath Medical College to the public and inaugurate the KLE Hospital and Medical Research Centre. He was also due to attend a cooperative society programme at Eksamba in Belagavi district.
He had arrived in Hubballi at around 1.30 am and met Karnataka BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and other leaders.
BJP sources said political developments in Karnataka were discussed during the meeting, including the state leaders’ padayatra and issues surrounding Vande Mataram.
Shah later developed health complications while preparing to leave for the medical college programme. Doctors advised him against attending the events, leading to the cancellation of the remaining engagements.
After several hours of treatment, the medical team reportedly cleared him to travel back to New Delhi at around 5.30 pm.
