All Gujarat ministers resign ahead of cabinet expansion
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will reshuffle his Cabinet today. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.
Governor Acharya Devvrat will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the ministers. All 16 Gujarat ministers submitted their resignations to the chief minister yesterday ahead of the cabinet reshuffle.
This major cabinet reshuffle is taking place nearly three years into the current term and just months ahead of the crucial local body elections, including the municipal corporation and panchayat polls.
The outgoing council consisted of only sixteen ministers, so there is a substantial scope to expand the cabinet toward its constitutional limit of twenty-seven.
Reports indicate that a large number of current ministers will be dropped, with a clear focus on inducting new faces, specifically a mix of younger leaders and women representatives.
The new council of ministers is scheduled to take the oath of office at 11:30 AM this morning at the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. Top BJP leaders, including the party’s National President J.P. Nadda, have already arrived in Gandhinagar ahead of the oath-taking ceremony.
