Yuvan clears the air on Ilayaraja’s ‘tribute’ to Jaya

For the past few days since the death of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa, a song has been doing rounds in the social media, with a claim that it was music maestro Ilayaraja’s tribute to the AIADMK supremo.

However, the Isaignani’s son and music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja has denied it and said in his microblogging page that they are just rumours.

“What im hearing is not true, my dad didn’t do any tribute song for our CM #jayalalithaa and if he ever did we will let you know. #rumours,” he said.

The buzz now is that the song is composed by Varshan, who scored the music for director SP Jananathan’s Purambokku Engira Podhuvudamai and has been sung by Asmin of Thappellam Thappe Illai fame.

It is to be noted that Ilayaraja was one among the early birds to offer floral tributes to the moral remains of Jayalalithaa at Rajaji Hall on Tuesday.
