Will Vijay’s Bigil release this Friday or not?

The Madras High Court, while refusing to stay the release of Vijay’s Bigil, however granted permission to assistant director Selvah to file a fresh appeal in plagiarism charge against  filmmaker Atlee.

Since it is expected that Selvah would approach a city civil court today or tomorrow, it is said that the film might face a fresh trouble in hitting the screens. However, its makers are optimistic of successfully coming over all hurdles and releasing the film as per the schedule.

This is not the only plagiarism charge levied against Bigil, which is director Atlee’s third film with Vijay. According to reports, filmmaker Meeraan claims that Bigil is based on his story, which he had registered back in 2015. He has now filed a complaint against the makers with the Tamil Film Producers Council.

Also, Bigil is facing tough times in Andhra too after director Nandi Chinni Kumar claimed that his film, based on the life of real-life football player Akhilesh Paul, and tentatively called Slum Soccer, bears major resemblances to Bigil.

Earlier, when Selvah’s case came up for hearing in August, the counsels for AGS Entertainment Private Limited (the producer of the movie) and director Atlee argued that the petitioner did not have any basis to file a plaint and sought the court to dismiss the plea.

Meanwhile, astrologer Balaji Hassan, who shot to fame with his predictions on cricketers and film stars, has said Bigil would become a blockbuster. “The film would sure emerge a super hit,” he said.

Bigil stars Vijay in multiple roles. While Nayanthara plays the leading lady, Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Vivek, Daniel Balaji etc are also part of the cast. The movie’s music has been composed by AR Rahman.

The trailer of Bigil is creating new records among all the films released in South India. In a short span, the trailer has garnered 2 million likes on YouTube. Currently, two Indian film trailers have got two million likes on YouTube — Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero and Vijay’s Bigil.
