DMK president M Karunanidhi has demanded to know when the Tamil Nadu government would bring down the prices of Aavin milk to Rs 25 per litre, as promised by the ruling AIADMK in its election manifesto.
“Believing this promise, people in 130 constituencies voted for AIADMK. It has been three months since the party came to power, but still it is silent on the milk price,” Karunanidhi said in a statement.
Meanwhile in another statement, he asked the Centre to ensure job reservation for Dalits in the private sector and said his party had adopted resolutions in this regard.
Referring to reports that the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre is taking up several initiatives to protect the Dalit community and provide quota in private sector jobs, he said, “I urge the Centre to come up with a detailed execution plan on implementation of the scheme that does not remain on paper.”
