Actress Rambha alias Vijayalakshmi who married a Canada-based Sri Lankan origin businessman in 2010 has approached a family court in Chennai, seeking restitution of conjugal rights.
According to reports, Rambha invoked Section 9 of the Hindu Marriages Act, saying she wanted to live with Indran. The couple have been living separately for some time now.
Rambha filed the present petition before the second additional family court here. The matter has been adjourned to December 3 for further proceedings.
Rambha is married to Indran Pathmanathan, a Canada-based businessman. After the marriage, the actress had settled in Toronto with her husband and began helping him in his business. The couple has two daughters (5-year old Lavanya and 19-month old Sasha).
According to Section 9 of the Act, when either the husband or wife withdraws from the other without reasonable excuse, the aggrieved person may go to court for restitution of his or her conjugal rights.
However, Rambha has denied all the above. “I just heard from my brother that there was such a rumour going on. If I have filed for divorce, there would be an entry, right? And wouldn’t people have noticed me if I had gone to the court for this? I have two kids, and in fact, I’m about to go and pick up my elder daughter from her school. Everything is fine in my marriage,” she said.
