Superstar Rajinikanth on Thursday said he was ”disappointed” over a particular thing during his interaction with functionaries of Rajini Makkal Mandram, a forum founded by him to facilitate his political entry.
Speaking to reporters, Rajinikanth said, “I met with district secretaries after almost a year to check about status of the party’s affair. They had some questions, I replied to them. We discussed many issues. I am disappointed with one issue. I will reveal it at the right time.”
An RMM district secretary, Joseph Stalin, said, “The superstar discussed the party’s launch, its policies and strategies. He also asked us about local issues pertaining to each district. He gave a list of dos and don’ts that our cadre should adhere to going forward.”
According to sources, Rajinikanth proposed to make someone else as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, while he would remain as the party chief. This was strongly opposed by district heads of RMM, who wanted Rajini to be the CM.
Rajinikanth has said he would launch his party ahead of the assembly elections, due in 2021. Recently, Muslim clerics had met him following his comments that religious leaders are inciting protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA.
“I had a cordial meeting with the Muslim delegation. We spoke about brotherhood, peace and love. They are ready to do what it takes to preserve the brotherhood and love in the country. I requested them to seek time from (Home Minister) Amit Shah and hold talks with him. I will help them,” he said.
Rajinikanth is busy with his film Annathe, directed by Siruthai Siva, co-starred by four lead women Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Khushbu and Meena. There is also speculation that the superstar has agreed to do a film under Kamal Haasan’s production house.
