West Bengal set for major Cabinet expansion as 35 ministers to take oath today

West Bengal is preparing for a significant expansion of its state government, with 35 ministers scheduled to be sworn in on today as part of a major Cabinet reshuffle led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.

The oath-taking ceremony is expected to take place at Nabanna, the state’s administrative headquarters, where Governor R. N. Ravi will administer the oath of office to the incoming ministers.

The expansion is expected to substantially increase the size of the Council of Ministers and is being viewed as an important step in strengthening the newly formed government. Reports indicate that several senior leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could be entrusted with key responsibilities in the administration.

Political observers have been closely watching developments ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, with discussions centering on possible new faces, regional representation, and the allocation of major portfolios. Sources cited in various reports suggest that community representation and administrative experience may play a role in the final composition of the Cabinet.

Preparations for the expansion have been underway for several days, with government and party circles anticipating one of the largest inductions into the state Cabinet in recent years.

The Cabinet expansion comes weeks after the formation of the new government following the Assembly elections. Since taking office, the administration has announced several policy initiatives and administrative measures, while the upcoming induction is expected to distribute responsibilities across a wider ministerial team.

With the swearing-in ceremony set to bring 35 ministers into the government, all eyes are now on Nabanna as West Bengal prepares for a major political and administrative reshuffle.
