Wanted to be part of PS-I: Rajinikanth

Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan were the chief guests at Ponniyin Selvan music and trailer launch event in Chennai.

After Kamal Haasan revealed he wanted to make the film, Rajinikanth went on to say that he wanted to be a part of the magnum opus but Mani Ratnam refused.

“I wanted to be part of Ponniyin Selvan. Asked Mani Ratnam to give me Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar. I said I’ll do a special appearance. Mani asked me ‘Do you want me to get bashed by your fans?’ Anyone else would have agreed, but Mani didn’t. That’s Mani Ratnam.”

He further added, “When I read the story, I imagined Kamal as Arunmozhi Varman, Sridevi as Kundavai, Vijaykanth as Aditya Karikalan, Sathyaraj as Pazhuvettaraiyar.”

The Ponniyin Selvan audio and trailer launch which took place in Chennai proved to be a star-studded affair.

The trailer has received good response from the audience.  The movie is all set to be released on 30 September.
