Vishal meets CM, requests to put an end to Tamilrockers

Tamil Film Producers Council president Vishal, who is also the general secretary of Nadigar Sangam, today called on Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami at the Secretariat in Chennai.

Speaking to reporters later, he said piracy website Tamilrockers can be blocked if the government decides to.

The actor-producer said he thanked Palaniswami for giving police protection for the ‘Ilayaraja 75‘ event held in the city on 2 and 3 February.

“We also requested the government to give more preference to the release of Tamil movies than English films,” he added.

Vishal is under attack from a section of industry people. Even on Monday, director Vasanthabalan expressed displeasure over Vishal for not curbing piracy which is hitting the cinema industry hard.

“Why no Malayalam and Telugu films are not getting released on Tamil Rockers? Why this curse exists only for Tamil films?”

He said further: “”Today, all are raving about Peranbu and Sarvam Thaala Mayam. But theaters in Tamil Nadu haven’t allocated morning shows for these films.

On the other hand, Tamil Rockers released these films. Why would audiences watch these films in theaters. My film Jail is ready for release but I’m already petrified.”

The Angadi Theru and Aravaan maker added: “Vishal and his team promised that they would solve all these issues but now are they are organizing Ilaiyaraaja concert to help poor producers. Well, next time you they will be conducting Rahman concert for poor directors like us.”
