Vishal files plea in HC, cop file fresh case against him :
Following the stand-off between two groups in Tamil Film Producers Council, the organisation’s president Vishal today filed a plea in the Madras High Court.
Vishal appealed in the High Court today after the TFPC office was sealed yesterday. The court has said it would hear the case at later today.
In the meantime, a fresh case has been filed against Vishal with Thousands Lights police in Chennai, based on a complaint filed against the actor-producer.
Tense moments prevailed outside the Tamil Film Producer’s Council (TFPC) on Thursday when Vishal was taken into preventive custody by Chennai police.
This after he tried to break open the lock of the office in T Nagar’s Yogambal Street. The actor-producer had a long standoff with the police, who he claimed were standing watch over the Producers’ Council office that had been locked by people who were not members of TFPC.
On December 19, a few producers protested against Vishal and locked the Tamil Film Producers’ Council office in T Nagar and Anna Salai in Chennai. The producers also raised slogans against Vishal and his team for not fulfilling the promises they made during the election in 2015.
In a tweet, Vishal said, “Police who were mute yesterday when unauthorized ppl locked the doors & gates of TFPC have arrested me & my colleague today for no fault of ours, absolutely unbelievable.”
The TFPC president added: “We will fight back, will do everything to conduct Ilayaraja sir event & raise funds to help Producers in distress.
