Vishal arrested for trying to break open Producers Council office
Tense moments prevailed outside the Tamil Film Producer’s Council (TFPC) today when its president Vishal was taken into preventive custody by Chennai police.
This after he tried to break open the lock of the office in T Nagar’s Yogambal Street. The actor-producer had a long standoff with the police, who he claimed were standing watch over the Producers’ Council office that had been locked by people who were not members of TFPC.
On December 19, a few producers protested against Vishal and locked the Tamil Film Producers’ Council office in T Nagar and Anna Salai in Chennai. The producers also raised slogans against Vishal and his team for not fulfilling the promises they made during the election in 2015.
Today, Vishal, the president of Tamil Nadu Film Producers’ Council, was detained by police officials when he tried to break the lock to enter the association’s office.
This morning, Vishal and his supporters reached the Council’s office. The police, deployed to prevent any clash between the two factions, tried to persuade Vishal to leave.
Refusing to leave, Vishal argued with the police in a bid to try break open the lock. Police then detained him.
In a tweet, Vishal said, “Police who were mute yesterday wen unauthorised ppl locked the doors & gates of TFPC have arrested me & my colleague today for no fault of ours,absolutely unbelievable.”
The TFPC president added: “We will fight back,wil do everything to conduct Ilayaraja sir event & raise funds to help Producers in distress.”
