Virundhu Movie Review

In the suspenseful world of Virundhu, two mysterious deaths within a year set the stage for an intriguing thriller. The first victim, John, a businessman, dies under suspicious circumstances during a business meeting with his wife’s ex-lover. This scene immediately casts suspicion on the wife and her former partner. Yet, the mystery deepens when the wife is also murdered, leaving the audience to question: Is the ex-lover the culprit, or could it be someone closer, like her seemingly innocent daughter, Perly (Nikki Galrani), who harbors a hidden resentment?

As the film progresses, Virundhu skillfully keeps you guessing, creating an atmosphere of suspicion where every character’s motives are questionable. The plot is cleverly designed, with twists that keep you engaged, particularly in the second half. The film’s unique structure deviates from the typical patterns of Tamil cinema, offering multiple surprises and a well-crafted climax.

Among the characters, Hemanth (Gireesh Neyyar), an innocent and empathetic auto driver, emerges as a key figure. Before his death, one of the victims reveals a crucial secret to Hemanth, setting him on a path to uncover the truth. His character is well-developed, showing his gentle nature and helpful tendencies. Hemanth’s journey, alongside a team of determined individuals, adds depth to the narrative as they work together to find the murderers.

While the film’s pacing can be uneven, with some subplots feeling unnecessary, Virundhu ultimately succeeds in delivering a compelling story. The cleverly woven twists and the final reveal of a cult group’s involvement add an unexpected layer of intrigue. The film’s climax leaves a lasting impression, showcasing what Virundhu could have achieved with a more tightly written screenplay. Despite its flaws, the movie stands out for its ambitious narrative and keeps you hooked until the very end.
