Actor Vikram’s son Dhruv was involved in an accident early on Sunday morning where he allegedly rammed into three autorickshaws at Teynampet in Chennai.
Investigations regarding the case were underway at the J2 Adyar police station. Reports said the autorickshaws were stationary when the aspiring actor’s car hit them and one person has been injured due to the impact.
Dhruv has been booked under section 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way) and 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC. He has also been granted bail.
The incident took place on the TTK Road at around 3.50 am. Auto driver Kamesh had been admitted to the Government Royapettah Hospital, city Traffic Police said.
Murmurs of drunk driving being the cause of the mishap started doing the rounds, but Vikram’s team refuted the rumours.
Vikram’s manager Suryanarayanan, meanwhile, has issued a statement suggesting that Dhruv was not driving under the influence of alcohol. “While returning from a friend’s house on early Sunday morning, Dhruv’s car crashed into autorickshaws. One person was injured in the accident and he was immediately rushed to the hospital.
He was treated for his injuries and later discharged. We would like to clarify that the accident happened only due to lack of attention behind the wheels and no other reason,” read the statement.
