Vikram-Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Dhruva natchathiram may finally see the light of day
After years of delays, Vikram-starrer Dhruva Natchathiram could be moving closer to a theatrical release.
Director Gautham Vasudev Menon has informed the Madras High Court that he has found an investor to help complete the financial arrangements required for releasing the long-pending project.
The court has permitted additional time for the filmmaker to work towards a release before October 31. Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy has also asked Menon to provide documentation confirming payment of Rs 10.57 crore to actor Vikram.
The documents are to be presented before the court-appointed observers, HV Hredai and MV Swaroop, who are examining the financial and other issues surrounding the film.
Menon’s production company, Kondaduvom Entertainment, had earlier sought more time after failing to meet an earlier deadline. The filmmaker had previously been given time until June 15 to resolve outstanding financial matters and facilitate the film’s release.
The release did not materialise by that deadline, leading to further requests for extensions. The latest proceedings centre on the proposed investor’s arrangements and the financial obligations connected with the film. The observers have sought clarification on various aspects, including whether the reported payment to Vikram was actually made.
The court has therefore directed Menon to submit supporting records showing the payment and the manner in which it was made. The observers will also examine the reasons cited by the filmmaker for seeking additional time before the matter progresses further.
