Vikram, Aishwarya Rai in Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus

Vikram has officially confirmed that he is on board for Mani Ratnam’s next, which is a magnum opus inspired by Kalki’s legendary novel Ponniyin Selvan. 

The Kadaram Kondan actor told reporters: “Yes, I’m on board for Mani sir’s next and my portions will begin from early next year”.  

Vikram will be doing the role of Aditya Karikaalan in the film. It was also rumored that Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Sundara Chozhar, Sathyaraj as Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandhini, Jayam Ravi as Arulmozhi Varman, Keerthy Suresh as Kunthavai Naachiyaar and Karthi as Vanthiya Devan will the cast in Mani Ratnam’s creation.

Earlier, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also confirmed playing a pivotal role in the film. “Though Mani hasn’t officially confirmed yet, the word is out so yes I’m working with him. I’m more than thrilled, excited, and overwhelmed to work with my guru”, said Aishwarya Rai in an interview.

In an interaction after walking the red carpet at the Cannes 2019, she said that even though Mani Ratnam hasn’t formally announced it himself but the word is out.

Aishwarya committed to the fact that she is working with him. She added that she will always be more than thrilled, excited, overwhelmed, humbled and just happy to work with her guru, Mani.

According to reports, the story of the film takes place in the 10th century before Raja Chola became a king. Aishwarya will be seen as Nandini, the wife of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar, who served as the chancellor and treasurer of the Chola kingdom.
