Vijay’s Master single copied from Vadivelu song?

The first single from Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi’s Master released on Friday evening. The song titled Oru Kutti Kathai has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander and sung by Vijay, accompanied by Anirudh himself.

Even as the song went viral, there are trolls in social media, claiming that the song was copied from the Santhana Malligaiyil song from Vadivelu-starrer Rajakaliamman.

Many video memes comparing both songs have also gone viral on various social media platforms. Said to be inspired from Vijay’s style of narrating a short story during audio launches, the song has been penned by Arunraja Kamaraj.

Oru Kutti Kathai, sung in Tanglish, has animated visuals of the actor inside classrooms, among students. The song comes across as a lengthy advice, delivered in a style typical to Vijay. The lyric video has been done by Logi.

Oru Kutti Kathai sheds light on many problems that people face in their life and advices fans to ignore negativity. Also, he speaks about how positivity is the key to life. Interestingly, the makers have released the lyrical video with comic illustrations, which are topical.

The title Oru Kutti Kathai marks resonance for fans of both Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi. The former, as Vijay has a habit of narrating a ‘kutti kathai’ (shorty story) at recent audio launches, much to the delight of his fans. Whereas Vijay Sethupathi’s ‘Oru kathai sollutama, sir?’ dialogue from Vikram Vedha is still fondly celebrated for its ‘punch’ quotient. Master is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
