Actor Vijay has pledged his donation to fight the coronavirus pandemic, by contributing to a number of relief funds, to the sum of Rs 1.30 crore.
Besides this, the Master star, whose latest film’s release has been postponed due to the lockdown, has also distributed an undisclosed amount to his fan clubs across the country, that will use the funds to help citizens affected by the pandemic.
Vijay has donated Rs 50 lakh to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Rs 25 lakh to PM-CARES Fund. He has also contributed Rs 10 lakh to Kerala Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
In addition, Vijay has pledged Rs 25 lakh to FEFSI (Film Employees Federation of South India) to improve the livelihood of daily wagers, who are the most affected in the coronavirus war.
He has also given Rs 5 lakh each to Karanataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Pondicherry Chief Minister’s Relief Funds. His fan clubs across Tamil Nadu are involved in relief efforts.
Vijay’s donation has led to an online war between Thala and Thalapathy fans,as the former said Vijay donated Rs 1.30 crore only to project himself above than Ajith, who gave Rs 1.25 crore. They also said Vijay did this only after a huge delay, that too after many criticised him.
Vijay’s contribution will be distributed among the PM CARES fund and Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Pondicherry and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s relief funds. A portion of the donated money will also go to Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) and a certain additional amount has also been kept for Vijay’s fan clubs.
