Actor-politician Vijaykant and his wife Premalatha were discharged recently hospital after recovering from testing positive for COVID-19.
Earlier last evening, there were reports that the DMDK president has been admitted in hospital again due to ill health. But it has been clarified that Vijayakant has been to the hospital for the second phase examination and will be back home in a couple of days.
A statement from the party read, “DMDK leader Captain Vijayakanth has been admitted to a private hospital for secondary tests. He is in good health. Please do not believe in rumours regarding Captain’s health.”
On September 24, the hospital released a bulletin that read, “DMDK founder Vijayakanth tested Covid-19 positive on September 22. He has been treated for the same and is completely stable. He is expected to make full recovery and should be ready for discharge soon.”
A few days later, Vijayakanth’s wife Premalatha also tested positive for the novel coronavirus. They were discharged from the hospital on October 2 and were advised to be in home isolation until they test negative.
Vijayakant and his wife and treasurer of the party Premalatha Vijayakant, were discharged from the hospital following recovery from coronavirus.
A release from MIOT Hospital on Friday said, “A Vijayakant (Founder and General Secretary, DMDK) and Premalatha Vijayakant (Treasurer of DMDK) tested positive for COVID-19. They were evaluated at MIOT Hospitals, Chennai and stayed on for observation. They have responded extremely well to treatment and are getting discharged today (October 2).”
