Vijayakanth admitted to hospital, what’s wrong with his health?

Giving tense moments to DMDK workers, party president Vijayakanth has been hospitalised once again. He has been admitted to a private hospital at Manapakkam in Chennai.

The exact reason and seriousness of his sudden ill-health have not been revealed officially. But party sources said ‘it is a regular check-up and he will be back soon’.

Following his return from the USA recently where he underwent treatment, a rumour was widely circulated on social media claiming that he was seriously ill and was hospitalised. His son Vijay Prabhakar and DMDK’s youth wing head LK Sudhish have however refuted it.

While the party had issued a statement, urging the public not to fall prey to rumours about his health, DMK President M K Stalin in a tweet wished Vijayakanth a quick recovery.

The Tamil Nadu politician has been under treatment for quite some time for various illnesses. Vijayakanth was hospitalised in March 2017 as well. He had founded the DMDK party on September 14, 2005.

Vijayakanth is popularly known as the ‘Captain’ and he celebrated his birthday on August 25.

Vijayakanth had laid the foundation for his entry into politics through a careful selection of films — even appealing to Tamil nationalist sentiments as ‘Captain Prabhakaran’ (1991) whose title references the leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam — and later through high-profile stint as president of the Nadigar Sangam.
