Contrary to what reports claimed, Vijay is unlikely to play the lead role in the dream project of actor-director Sundar C, tentatively titled Sanghamitra.
“It’s true that Vijay was approached with the offer. Since he was expected to set aside over a year on the project, he was left with no other option than turn it down. At this stage in his career, Vijay doesn’t want spend over a year on a project,” sources said.
Sundar is planning the film like Baahubali. Oscar winner A R Rahman would score music for it. Touted to be a period action thriller, sources say that Thiru of Hey Ram and 24 fame will be cranking the camera and Sabu Cyril will take care of the production design.
The Mozart of Madras, who has previously worked in historical films like Jodha Akbar and the recent Mohenjo Daro, has produced riveting soundtracks.
The film is touted to be the most expensive film ever made in India, according to Only Kollywood. It is also rumoured that the film will be costlier than SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali and Shankar’s Enthiran 2.0.
In an earlier media interaction, Sundar has revealed that his next period film for Sri Thenandal Films will be the biggest project ever made in the country.
