Director Venkat Prabhu, who is getting ready to revive his dropped Maanaadu with Simbu aka STR, has said the film will show a never-seen-before STR.
Speaking in a TV show, he said, “It has been a challenging script. It is a new genre for me and STR. We have already faced a lot of ups and downs before the shoot of the film.”
The Mankatha and Goa maker said further: “I think the script itself is bringing everyone back. It’ll be a new genre and STR fans will be watching an unseen side of the actor in the film.”
Venkat Prabhu added: “GVM sir in VTV showed a completely different side of STR and that was new. I wanted to show STR differently in my own style, I hope everyone likes it.”
Produced by Suresh Kamatchi, Kalyani Priyadarshan plays the female lead in the film. This is the first time STR and Venkat Prabhu are coming together for a film.
Recently, it was said that Maanadu team had approached Arvind Swamy to play the antagonist in the film. Earlier, Arvind Swamy and STR have acted together in Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam.
Earlier there were reports that Kannada star Kichcha Sudeep has been approached to play the film’s villain but the actor had denied it. If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, the Thani Oruvan and Kadal actor has been approached to play the antagonist in Simbu-Venkat Prabhu’s Maanaadu, which is expected to go on the floors later this month.
