Uttarakhand tunnel rescue: Governor, CM laud efforts
Governor R.N. Ravi and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday lauded the rescue team for their efforts in evacuating 41 workers who had been trapped inside a tunnel at Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand.
After almost 17 days of intense efforts by multiple agencies, all 41 workers trapped in Uttarakhand’s Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi were evacuated safely on Tuesday, 28 November.
President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the country in hailing the successful operation.
In a post on X, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said, “We will leave no stone unturned to protect our own. Heartfelt gratitude to all those who worked tirelessly to rescue those trapped in the tunnel.” “Commend the grit and determination of those who faced such adversity without giving up hope,” he said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah described the rescue of the workers as great news for the nation and said the country salutes their grit in facing such a challenging situation for so long.
