Even as there were intensified concerns about the health of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, Apollo Hospitals flew in Dr. Richard John Beale, Consultant Intensivist at the London Bridge Hospital, to assess her condition.
Sources said Dr Richard John Beale, an intensivist who has done research on sepsis, acute respiratory distress syndrome and clinical nutrition, arrived at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai on Thursday.
Beale, on examining Jayalalithaa, said she was receiving the best course of treatment at the hospital. An internationally renowned specialist and researcher, he will be available for further consultation over the next couple of days to the team of doctors attending on the Chief Minister.
Beale held discussions with the doctors treating Jayalalithaa and advised a few more tests on the CM. On Friday, there was no medical bulletin from the hospital or the government.
Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Shipping Pon. Radhakrishnan, who was among those who was two days ago seen at the Apollo Hospitals, where Chief Minister Jayalalithaa is “recuperating”, on Friday urged the people not to believe in rumours about her health condition.
Interacting with journalists in Nagercoil on Friday, Radhakrishnan said the Chief Minister would recover from her illness and return to public life soon.
Meanwhile, DMK president M. Karunanidhi has urged the State government to clarify on the health condition of Jayalalithaa and put an end to speculation, and the agony of her party cadres.
