The expert team of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), along with a UK-based specialist, who had earlier examined Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, on Thursday visited Apollo Hospital in Chennai again.
Dr Richard Beale, whose area of expertise includes acute lung injury, sepsis and multi-organ failure, was first flown in on September 30 to assess the CM’s condition.
The three doctors from AIIMS, i.e. pulmonologist Dr GC Khilnani, anaesthetist Dr Anjan Trikha and cardiologist Dr Nitish Naik, who was the personal physician of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, had earlier arrived in Chennai on October 5 and 6.
Earlier, Jayalalithaa’s supporters and well wishers gathered outside Apollo Hospital where she was admitted a few weeks back. Prayers are also being hold for well being of the Tamil Nadu CM.
Visitors are restricted from meeting Jayalalithaa who is on respiratory support in the intensive care unit. “Most VIP visitors are briefed by the treating doctors. Some get to see her from afar, but entry is restricted,” reports said, quoting sources.
The latest hospital bulletin said that a panel of doctors, consisting of intensivists, cardiologists, respiratory physicians and infectious disease specialists, among others, were monitoring the chief minister.
