Udhayanidhi Stalin’s first promise after becoming DMK youth wing head

Udhayanidhi Stalin, who was appointed as the DMK’s youth wing secretary, has said he would prove his critics wrong with his actions.

“My actions will answer to those who say this post was given to me just because I am son of DMK president M K Stalin,” he said, after paying tributes at the memorial of his grandfather and former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

He added: “I did not expect any post in Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. I view the party high command’s decision to appoint me to this post as recognition to all youngsters in the DMK.”

Stalin, was appointed as the new Youth Wing Secretary of the Party on Thursday evening, triggering celebrations by enthusiastic party workers across Tamil Nadu.

Party General Secretary K Anbazhagan in a statement here said Udhayanidhi  Stalin was appointed to the post under Rule 18 (9)of the DMK party.

Udhayanidhi, who is also the Managing Director of DMK’s Murasoli Trust, was appointed in place of former Minister Vellakovil M P Saminathan, who has been elevated as a member of the DMK’s High Level Executive Committee.

The party seems to have plans to revamp the youth wing under  Udhayanidhi’s leadership, who will chair his first meeting of the youth wing in Chennai on July 6.

Deputy secretary of the youth wing Suba. Chandrasekar was relieved from his post. He will function as a member of the party’s constitution amendment committee.
