New Covid-19 cases continue to dip in Tamil Nadu with the State reporting 4,410 cases and 49 deaths on Thursday, taking the tally to 6,74,802 and toll to 10,472.
The Health department said 5,055 Covid-19 cured persons were discharged from various hospitals in the state, taking their total to 622,458.
The state also recorded the death of 49 patients, taking the toll till date to 10,472.
While Chennai recorded 1,148 cases, neighbouring districts of Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur recorded 255 cases, 112 and 192 cases respectively.
After Chennai, Coimbatore again reported the highest number of cases with 395. Among the other Western districts, Erode reported 126, Namakkal 148, Salem 263 and Tiruppur 146 cases.
The number of active Covid-19 cases in the state after taking into account the cured and dead stands at 41,872.
The number of infected children in the state in the age group 0-12 went up to 25,010.
Of the 49 fatalities (27 in government hospitals and 22 in private facilities), Chennai accounted for 18 deaths, while Tiruvallur saw five.
This included three persons in their 30s. One of them, a 37-year-old woman from Tiruvallur, tested positive for COVID-19 on October 4 and was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai with difficulty in breathing on October 14. She died on the same day due to COVID-19 pneumonia.
