TN polls: Nasim Zaidi holds discussion with TN top officials
Chief election commissioner of India Nasim Zaidi today held a discussion through video conferencing with top Tamil Nadu officials on poll preparedness.
With just few days left for the May 16 Assembly elections, he held discussions with CEO Rajesh Lakhoni, chief secretary K Gnanadesikan, home secretary Apoorva Varma and other top officials.
Meanwhile, as part for its awareness campaign on ethical voting, the Election Commission today administered a pledge to one crore people across Tamil Nadu that ‘they will not get money for vote’ in the Assembly elections.
It read: “We, the citizens of India, having abiding faith in democracy, hereby pledge to uphold the democratic traditions of our country and the dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections and to vote in every election fearlessly without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, community, language or any other inducement.”
