TN Governor’s health fine, Raj Bhavan cancels I-Day events

The health condition of Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, who was recently tested positive for Covid-19 and was advised home isolation, is said to be steady.

“Doctors regularly monitor his health and he is fine,” sources said. Meanwhile, a Raj Bhavan release said, “Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. Banwarilal Purohit decided not to host the “At Home Reception” at Raj Bhavan on the occasion of Independence Day 2020 in view of Covid -19 pandemic.”

It added: “Today Doctors from Kauvery hospital carried out the health checkup of Hon’ble Governor and found him stable. They are monitoring his health condition 24 X 7.”

Home Minister Amit Shah, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit are among the top politicians who tested positive on Sunday.

Uttar Pradesh minister Kamal Rani Varun succumbed to the infection. Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan was discharged after he tested negative, son Abhishek who continues to be positive is still undergoing treatment at a Mumbai hospital.

After many staff members of Raj Bhavan tested positive, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday.

“He is asymptomatic and clinically stable,” said an official bulletin from a private city hospital. The Governor has been advised home isolation and he will be monitored by a team of doctors from the hospital.

Purohit was taken to the hospital in Chennai on Sunday morning. The hospital visit came against the backdrop of 87 employees of Raj Bhavan testing positive in less than ten days.

“He underwent further tests and assessment at the hospital. As the infection is mild, he has been advised home isolation and will be monitored by the medical team of the hospital,” the bulletin added.
