TN Assembly: DMK allies stage walk out, Governor exits during CM speech
The tussle between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led Tamil Nadu government and Governor RN Ravi reached the state Assembly on Monday when the party raised slogans against the latter during his address.
Legislators of the ruling DMK and its allies, the Congress and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) started raising slogans against the Governor for his recent remarks that ‘Tamizhagam’ rather than ‘Tamil Nadu’ would be more appropriate name for the State and staged a walkout from the assembly.
DMK MLAs also raised slogans against the Governor, saying “don’t impose BJP, RSS ideology.”
Meanwhile, the governor too walked out of the Assembly following CM Stalin’s speech. CM Stalin said during his speech said that it is really sad that the Tamil Nadu Government’s report was ignored without being weighed against the policy.
He further proposed a resolution to strike the Governor’s words from the House notes in opposition to what was printed. Following this, the Governor stepped down from his seat and walked away.
