Title trouble for Sivakarthikeyan film

Sivakarthikeyan’s and Vijay Deverakonda’s upcoming films have been titled Hero, and the makers of both these films claim that they have registered the title with the producers council and they have the rights to it.

Tribal Arts, producers of the Vijay Deverakonda starrer have sent out the photocopies of bills they paid to renew the title of ‘Hero’ until June 2019 at the Tamil Film Producers Council.

However, the council has issued an official press statement saying that the title Hero belongs to KJR Studios, which is bankrolling Sivakarthikeyan movie directed by Mithran. Earlier, KJR Studios distributed Ajith’s Viswasam.

Apparently, one of these two films should undergo a title change but we have to wait and watch to know which production house is going to give up the title.

Anand Annamalai of Vijay Deverakonda project says, “In Tamil, we have registered the title Hero under Tribal Arts, a production company that I formed along with Manikandan. We had registered the title with the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) on July 4, 2017.

A registered title is valid for a year, and has to be renewed if the makers want to hold on to its rights. So, we renewed the title on June 14, 2018, and received a receipt saying that our rights over the title is valid till June 14, 2019.”

On Wednesday, it was announced that Sivakarthikeyan’s new film with Irumbuthirai director Mithran has been titled as Hero.

Produced by KJR Studios in association with 24 AM Studios, the film marks the Tamil debut of Kalyani Priyadarshan who plays the romantic interest of Sivakarthikeyan. Hero also has Arjun and Ivana of Naachiyaar fame in pivotal roles
