Vijay Sethupathi and Gayathri featuring, Ranjit Jeyakodi’s directorial Mellisai has gone for a title change. It will from now on be called as Puriyadha Pudhir.
Prominent distributor J Sathish Kumar who watched the film recently in a special screening felt that the title is too soft for a thriller film like this and hence suggested that a title change is imperative to create the apt feeling about the film in the minds of audience.
Hence the makers have decided to change the title as Puriyatha Puthir. This is the title of director K.S.Ravikumar’s debut film that released in 1990 and that was also a super hit thriller.
Ranjit speaks, “Yes, we have changed the title to Puriyadha Puthir. It is purely for business purposes. Titles like Moodupani and Netrikann were suggested.”
“Finally, we zeroed in on Puriyadha Pudhir which again will be apt for the story as the film is a thriller. In fact, the film was titled as Moodu Pani first but we later changed to Mellisai.”
“And now, we tried for Moodu Pani and Netri Kann but we could not get those titles. We approached Supergood film RB Choudary sir who was kind enough to give the title to us,” he adds.
