Superstar Rajinikanth’s house at Poes Garden has been brought under security cover after a few fringe outfits planned to besiege his house condemning his statement on Tuticorin anti-Sterlite protests.
As some fringe outfits announced that they would picket his Poes Garden residence demanding an apology for branding the anti-Sterlite protestors as anti-socials, more than 200 police personnel were deployed on security duty.
Public were not allowed to see his residence and the roads leading to his residence were heavily barricaded. Even his fans were not allowed to visit his residence. Vehicles entering the area were thoroughly checked.
Rajinikanth, who visited the injured protesters at Tuticorin government hospital on Wednesday, said he knew it was anti-social elements who were responsible for the violence on May 22 which led to the killing of 13 people in the police firing.
The actor visited the injured victims at the hospitals at around 12 noon, amid tight security. Police denied him permission to visit the families of the deceased at their houses, because of security concerns.
Later, meeting reporters at Sathya Resort, Rajinikanth said that the gunfire victims undergoing treatment at the ThMCH are in fear, while some are fatigued. The police firing was an unfortunate incident and it should not be repeated, he added.
