The makers of Thalaivi, biopic of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, have announced that the movie will be released on 23 April. The announcement was made on Jayalalithaa’s birth anniversary on Wednesday.
Kangana Ranaut plays Jayalalithaa in the movie, while Arvind Swamy plays the character of former Chief Minister MGR. The movie directed by AL Vijay also stars Prakash Raj, Madhoo and Bhagyashree.
The movie is being made in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. The movie is bankrolled by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R Singh.
Thalaivi is an upcoming Indian multilingual biographical film about the life of J Jayalalithaa, politician and film actress who served six terms as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, with Kangana Ranaut playing the role of Jayalalithaa.
The film is directed by A. L. Vijay and produced by Vibri Media in collaboration with Karma Media And Entertainment. Simultaneously shot in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages under the same title, filming began on 10 November 2019. The film is scheduled for release on 23 April 2021.
